Every year in Burkina Faso, the MSF program begins seeing a spike in admissions of malnourished children just a few weeks after the harvest runs out. The situation is exacerbated by the poor nutritional value of the staple crop, Millet. In the Starved for Attention Film “A Mother’s Devotion,” photojournalist Jessica Dimmock tenderly captures the heartbreaking emotional strains experienced by a young, hard working mother, Natasha, simply trying to feed her children. Alone at 24, she scavenges firewood to sell in the market. Her meager earnings force an impossible choice: between buying food or medicine for her three children.

So, it appears DC’s metro system is staying open durring the hurricane. Well, underground, that is. But wait, don’t those underground stations have GIANT FREAKING ENTRANCES that would be perfect for floodwater to fill up?
